King drops pair to Erskine


BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University baseball team faced one of the top hitting teams in Conference Carolinas, and Erskine College proved that in their 12-6 game one victory. The Tornado had the lead throughout game two, but the Flying Fleet scored three runs in the final two innings to take the contest 7-5.

SERIES HIGHLIGHTS GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
  • The Flying Fleet scored nine runs in the first three innings, including two on a Dayan Reinoso triple to take the lead in the first inning.
  • Truman Roper started the bottom of the first inning with a walk, and he later scored on a Meyer single, cutting the King deficit to 2-1.
  • However, Erskine added three runs in the second inning, two on a Livan Reinoso home run.
  • Erskine extended their lead to 9-1 with four runs in the third inning, two on a Dalton Boyd single.
  • Dayan Reinoso tacked on another run for the Flying Fleet with a leadoff home run in the fourth inning.
  • Renwick plated Barger and David Carnicella with a single in the fourth inning, cutting the King deficit to 10-3.
  • Erskine tacked on a two runs in the seventh to take a 12-3 lead, but the Tornado didn't go down without a fight.
  • King loaded the bases with a walk and a pair of singles before a Deric Graham bases loaded walk plated one run.
  • A ground out and sacrifice fly scored two more runs for the Tornado, but that was it as Erskine got the final out to take the game 12-6.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
  • Roper started the nightcap with a single before advancing to second on a wild pitch and third on a flyout.
  • He then scored on a Renwick sacrifice fly to give King a 1-0 lead.
  • Erskine answered with run in the top of the second inning to even the score, however.
  • The Tornado regained the lead in the third inning as Renwick and Meyer ripped back-to-back singles to start the inning.
  • An Ethan Hawkins walk loaded the bases before back-to-back two-run doubles from Barger and Brayden Cooney gave King a 5-1 lead.
  • The lead stayed there until the Flying Fleet started to chip away in the sixth inning.
  • Erskine scored three runs, cutting the King lead to 5-4.
  • The Flying Fleet then took the lead with two runs in the eighth inning.
  • Erskine added an insurance run in the ninth, and the Tornado went down in order in the bottom of the inning as Erskine took the game 7-5.

  • Tariq Bacon led the Flying Fleet offense, going 6-for-8 on the day with three doubles and three runs batted in.
  • Dayan Reinoso drove in four on four hits.
  • Dalton Reeves also posted six hits, two doubles and drove in two.
