BANNER ELK, N.C. – The King University women's soccer team returned to the pitch at rival Lees-McRae College on Wednesday night. The Tornado answered a Bobcat goal early in the second half, and
Lucy Barrientos kept the Bobcats out of the net for the rest of the game as the contest ended in a 1-1 draw.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Lees-McRae had the first chance of the game, taking a shot on frame in the fifth minute, but Tornado goalkeeper Lucy Barrientos came up with the save.
- Barrientos came up with two more saves in the 15th and 16th minutes to keep the Bobcats off the scoreboard.
- Mackenzie Winters registered the first shot on target for the Tornado in the 18th minute, but it was turned away.
- In the 26th minute, Veronica Roach ripped shot on frame, but it too was saved by the Lees-McRae goalkeeper.
- The teams traded chances in the final 10 minutes as Anya Gross' shot for King was turned away in the 37th minute before Barrientos came up with another save in the 42nd minute to send the game to halftime.
- Lees-McRae took eight shots, four on goal in the first half while all three of King's shots were on target in the opening 45 minutes.
- Lees-McRae took the lead 10 minutes into the second half as Rachel Crum took a shot from inside the box that was out of the reach of Barrientos to give the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.
- King responded on a free kick in the 58th minute. Taylor Stubbs took the kick from 30 yards out and placed her shot over the keeper and into the right side of the net to even the tally.
- The Bobcats continued to press, but Barrientos came up big for the Tornado, making seven saves on 14 Bobcat shots in the second half.
- Meghan O'Ferral had the only other opportunity for the Tornado in the 69th minute, but it was turned away.
- Barrientos made three saves in the final 10 minutes, sending the game to overtime even at 1-1.
- King took two shots in the opening three minutes, one was off target and the other was blocked before the Bobcats sent a shot off target.
- Megan Brody had another opportunity for King in the waning seconds, but it missed the net as the contest went to double overtime.
- Lees-McRae had the first three chances of the second overtime, but Barrientos came up with saves on all three occasions in the opening six minutes.
- Ariana Gallegos countered with a shot for the Tornado, but it was turned away.
- In the final minute, Morgan Johnson laced a shot, but it too was turned away as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- King took 12 shots in the game, placing seven on frame and earned two corner kicks.
- The goal for Stubbs was the first of her career.
- Barrientos made a career-high 14 saves.
FOR THE FOES
- Lees-McRae placed 15 of their 26 shots on frame and earned three corner kicks.
- Hope Sanborn made six saves.
