BRISTOL, Tenn. –
Meg Davis and
Katy Neubert of the King University women's cross country and track & field teams were selected Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). This marks the first selection for each.
The pair becomes the third and fourth individuals to earn the honor in program history, joining Hanna Witt in 2012-13 and 2013-14 and current assistant coach
Maegan Henry in 2013-14.
Davis had a successful spring for both teams, earning first team All-Conference Carolinas in cross country after taking third at the Conference Carolinas Championships. She covered the 5k distance in a personal record time of 20:25. On the track, Davis was first team All-Conference Carolinas during the outdoor season in the 800 meters. She won the race with a personal record time of 2:20.90. During the indoor season, the Kingsport, Tenn., native finished second in the 800 meters, earning second team all-conference honors.
In the class room, Davis, a junior, carries a 3.89 GPA while majoring in Elementary Education with a concentration on ESL. She also was selected Academic All-Conference Carolinas for the first time this year.
Neubert also had a successful spring on the course and on the track, earning all-conference honors in both disciplines. At the Conference Carolinas Cross Country Championships, the Johnson City, Tenn., native earned second team all-conference honors, finishing ninth with a 5k time of 21:04.7. During the indoor track & field season, Neubert won the 800 meters for the second straight season, crossing the finishing line in 2:23.95. That gave her first team all-conference honors for the second consecutive year.
In the classroom, the junior carries a 4.00 GPA while majoring in Cell & Molecular Biology. She was the Conference Carolinas Elite 23 Award recipient for women's outdoor track & field.
Both are now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. The cross country/track & field Academic All-America teams will be announced on August 11.
