TIGERVILLE, S.C. – In a rematch of last year's Conference Carolinas Tournament championship match, the King University women's volleyball team fell at North Greenville University on Tuesday evening. The opening set was a battle won by the Crusaders as they went on to win the match 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- North Greenville used a 7-1 run to take a 15-9 lead, but the Tornado worked their way back.
- Julie Ward started 6-0 King spurt with a kill. She later had a service ace, and Brittney Ramsey accounted for a kill on the run that pulled King within 15-14.
- A block from Abigail Belcher and Hailee Blankenship evened the score at 16.
- However, a 3-0 North Greenville run put the Crusaders back ahead as they held that lead to take the set 25-23.
Second Set
- North Greenville broke a tie at six with four straight points to gain separation in the second set.
- The Tornado again came back, however, using a 6-1 run to even the score at 16.
- Ward, Georgia Davis and Ramsey had kills on the spurt before Ward evened the frame with an ace.
- The set was again tied at 18, but the Crusaders scored seven of the final nine points to take the set 25-20.
Third Set
- The Crusaders used a 6-1 run to take a commanding 17-11 lead in the final set.
- King couldn't recover as North Greenville took the set 25-13 to win the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Blankenship led King with eight kills to go along with six digs and three blocks.
- Ward added seven kills and two digs.
- Gabri Puertas led the back row with 12 digs.
- Katie Harless handed out 16 assists.
FOR THE FOES
- Erin Allen led North Greenville with 13 kills and four digs.
- Abigail Durham added 11 kills while Kasie Thomas chipped in with eight kills.
- Whitley Kahler led the back row with 12 digs.
- Ashlyn Conner handed out 17 assists and Abby Pyke accounted for 16 helpers.
UP NEXT
- King is in action again on Friday at rival Lees-McRae College. First serve from Banner Elk, N.C. is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
- North Greenville travels to Chowan University on Friday night.
