CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The King University women's basketball team traveled to take on the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga on Saturday afternoon for an exhibition game against the NCAA Division I foe. The Tornado trailed by nine at halftime, and ultimately fell to the Moccasins 62-47.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- The Moccasins jumped out to a 14-3 lead as Rikkelle Miller knocked down a triple for the Tornado in the opening six minutes.
- Back-to-back baskets for Le'Aije Ellington got the Tornado offense going down the stretch.
- Tori Smiley then made a pair of jump shots to pull King within 18-11 of Chattanooga after the first period.
Second Period
- Michelle Gallegos connected from long range to open the period and pull King within 18-14.
- However, the Moccasins extended their lead back to 23-14.
- A Jordan Weir jump shot pulled King within eight before a Brianna Dunbar layup made the King deficit 32-23 with one minute remaining in the half.
- The teams then traded free throws in the final minute, giving Chattanooga a 33-24 lead at the break.
Third Period
- Chattanooga started the third quarter with a 14-4 run to take a 47-28 lead midway through the period.
- Jaelyn West and Weir then teamed up for back-to-back buckets to get the Tornado offense going.
- However, the Moccasins scored five of the final seven points, taking a 52-34 lead into the final period.
Fourth Period
- Ellington started the final period with a triple and Alexa Gramann followed with a layup to pull King within 52-39.
- King later trailed 54-41 following a pair of Ashley Allen free throws, but Chattanooga pulled away down the stretch.
- The Moccasins took the contest 62-47.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Ellington led the Tornado with 10 points while Gramann followed with six.
- West led the Tornado with nine rebounds.
FOR THE FOES
- Yazz Wazeerud-Din led Chattanooga with 15 points while Abbey Cornelius added 12 points and 12 rebounds.
- Addie Porter chipped in with 11 points, and Raven Thompson accounted for nine points and a game-high 16 rebounds.
UP NEXT
- King travels to the University of North Georgia on Monday. The Nighthawks are ranked third in one poll and 12th in another. Tipoff from Dahlonega, Ga., is slated for 5:30 p.m.
- Chattanooga travels to Georgia State University on Wednesday.
