BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University head cross country and track & field coach
Brandon Ellis announced his resignation from the position, effective November 6, 2022. Ellis will be pursuing professional opportunities outside of collegiate coaching.
"I want to thank Brandon for four years of service to our student-athletes at King, the last two as head coach," said director of athletics
David Hicks. "I'm sorry to see him leave, but I wish him the best of luck in his new adventure. Our program has made great strides since he arrived on campus, and we are in a better place than when he arrived."
On Saturday, the women's cross country team won their second consecutive Conference Carolinas championship, and third in the last four years, with a thrilling one-point win over Converse University. He earned Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year honors for the second straight year, five individuals earned All-Conference Carolinas honors, and for the second consecutive year a King student-athlete earned the Elite 23 Award for the highest GPA at the conference championships.
On the men's side, the Tornado finished as Conference Carolinas runner-up in 2020-21, Ellis' second year as an assistant coach, with five student-athletes on the all-conference teams. In track & field, Ellis coached two all-region honorees and a pair of all-conference honorees during his tenure as a head coach.
King will begin a national search for a new Head Cross Country/Track and Field Coach immediately.
