BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's wrestling team picked up a pair of wins Wednesday night, beating South Atlantic Conference Carolinas opponent Queens University 25-16 before beating Bluefield State College 37-9 in a nonconference clash.

HOW IT HAPPENED – QUEENS
- The Royals started the match with a major decision victory at 125 pounds before Elijah Hicks picked up a major decision of his own, 14-2 over Griffen Gonzalez to tie the dual at 4.
- King picked up a win at 141 pounds off a forfeit, which Demetri Teddlie followed up with a tech fall win, 20-2 over Lucas Comroe to make the score 15-4.
- After a double forfeit at 157 pounds, Dallas Boone picked up a major decision win of his own, 14-5 to stretch the lead to 19-4.
- Dallin Ewart needed just 2:23 to pin his opponent at 174 pounds, giving the Tornado a 25-4 lead.
- Queens won the final three bouts but were unable to close the gap, with King taking the dual 25-16.
HOW IT HAPPENED – BLUEFIELD STATE
- King won seven bouts against the Big Blue, including forfeits at 125 pounds and 184 pounds.
- Hicks picked up his second major decision win of the day at 133 pounds, winning 10-1 over Roby Thomas.
- At 141 pounds, nationally-ranked no. 6 Christian Small scored what would be the first of three straight pins for the Tornado, with Teddlie (149 pounds) and Boone (157 pounds) also earning bonus point wins, making it a 28-0 lead.
- Following a double forfeit at 165 pounds, David Varner earned a hard-fought win at 174 pounds, beating Justin Fritz 7-4.
- Garcia claimed a forfeit win at 184 pounds before the Big Blue won via decision at 197 pounds and forfeit at 285 pounds, ending the dual with King winning 37-9.
UP NEXT
- The Tornado are on the road for their next dual, taking on Coker University Monday at 6 p.m. before wrapping up their home slate with matches against UNC Pembroke and Belmont Abbey on Thursday.
- This was the final dual of the season for Queens, who won't be in action again until the regional championships on Feb. 26.
- Bluefield State has a pair of road duals left, starting Thursday at Wheeling University.
