Kellan Kennedy had 10 kills and three solo blocks Tuesday night as the King University men's volleyball team dropped a nonconference matchup, 3-0 to Lincoln Memorial University.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- The Railsplitters jumped out to an early 6-3 lead after a stretch of three consecutive points.
- After the score went to 7-4, the Tornado benefitted from an attack error from LMU and a block by Warren Davis and Aaron Milstead to bring them to within 7-6.
- The LMU lead reached 17-11, where a service error and a block by Milstead and Jack Sarnowski made it 17-13.
- The Railsplitters got to set point, 24-14 off a string of five straight points, but King refused to go down easy, taking the next four points, with Kennedy recording back-to-back kills to bring the Tornado to within 24-18 before LMU won the set on a kill.
Second Set
- King jumped out to an early 2-0 lead after back-to-back kills by Kennedy, but LMU would then score six consecutive points, quickly going ahead 7-2.
- After LMU's lead reached 8-3, the Tornado came storming back, getting to within 8-7 after three attack errors in a row by the Railsplitters.
- King got back to within one point at 14-13 off a solo block by Kennedy, which followed a Davis kill earlier in the set.
- LMU had set point, up 24-22 but were unable to close it out, as Jackson Carroll picked up a kill to make it 24-23 before another attack error tied the set.
- The Railsplitters were able to salvage a set win, taking the final two points to win 26-24.
Third Set
- Neither team was able to build a large lead in the third set, as in the early stages there were three lead changes, along with three points where the score was tied.
- LMU had a 12-11 lead before scoring five of the next six points, stretching their advantage to 17-12.
- After the Railsplitters built a 21-14 lead, the Tornado benefitted from multiple attack errors, which along with a kill by AJ Drooker brought them to within 23-19.
- LMU would close the night with a kill and a service ace, winning the set 25-19 and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kennedy finished with 10 kills, with Davis adding eight and Carroll contributing seven.
- Kennedy also led in blocks with three, while Milstead had two.
- Sarnowski handed out 26 assists, and also had five digs on the evening.
FOR THE FOES
- Shay Spadaro had 12 kills to lead the LMU attack, while Kohl Kutsch led in blocks (4), set assists (27) and digs (8).
UP NEXT
- The Tornado will play at Queens Friday night before returning to the Student Center Complex for a Saturday showdown with Fort Valley State.
- Lincoln Memorial hosts Central State on both Friday night and Saturday afternoon, continuing their five-match homestand.
