Jaden Potts hit a clutch three-pointer Wednesday night to give the King University women's basketball team a 44-42 win over Conference Carolinas foe Erskine.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- Neither team was able to score much early, as after the first five minutes the score was 3-2 in favor of King, with Jada Campbell hitting a three to give the Tornado their points.
- The Tornado started to find their stride near the end of the quarter, as Jaelyn West knocked down a pull-up jumper to extend the lead to 5-2, which increased a minute later when Jordan Weir made a pair of free throws.
Second Period
- The scoring picked up slightly in the second, as after the Flying Fleet cut the lead to 8-7, Alexa Gramann went to the free throw line and knocked down a pair, starting what would turn out to be a 12-6 run that would span the remainder of the period.
- The Tornado would eventually take a 18-10 lead, which was their largest of the game to that point, before Erskine made a three of their own to cut the lead to five.
- Weir hit a layup with 55 seconds left, giving King a 20-13 lead that they would take into the locker room.
Third Period
- Erskine started the third quarter on the right side of things, narrowing the King lead to 23-20 just over a minute into the quarter.
- The Flying Fleet would eventually take just their second lead of the game at the five minute mark.
- After the Erskine lead increased to 26-23, Weir hit another layup, bringing the Tornado to within 26-25 with three minutes left.
- The Tornado would score three points in the closing minutes, with Potts making a layup, but were unable to retake the lead, trailing 31-28.
Fourth Period
- The Tornado struck early in the final quarter, with Jhayda McKinney knocking down an early jumper to bring King to within two, 32-30.
- After both teams hit a three, the Flying Fleet stretched their lead to 40-34 with 4:05 to play, which King trimmed to 40-36.
- Campbell nailed a triple to bring the Tornado to within 40-39 before Gramann made a layup to take the lead with 14 seconds left.
- After Erskine hit a layup at the other end, they missed the ensuing free throw, which resulted in Potts grabbing the rebound and going coast to coast, making the three that would give King their second win over Erskine this season.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- West and Weir both led the Tornado with seven points, while Weir grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.
- This was the 13th consecutive win for King over Erskine, and the sixth consecutive road win over the Flying Fleet.
FOR THE FOES
- Anzya Cook led all scorers with 14 points, while Janelle Carter scored six and had seven rebounds, five of which came on the offensive glass.

- The Tornado will continue their four-game road trip Saturday when they make the trek to Florence, S.C. to take on Francis Marion at 2 p.m.
- Erskine will be at Lees-McRae Saturday afternoon.
