MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The King University softball team ended their weekend road trip with a pair of wins at Chowan University on Sunday.
Savana Luper tossed a four-hit shutout in a 4-0 game one Tornado win before
Jessica Campbell posted five hits in a 9-3 game two King victory.

KING HIGHLIGHTS
- Haylee Dye and Campbell each hit home runs in the day. Dye posted four hits and drove in four while Campbell posted five hits and drove in three.
- Carly Turner added four hits, scored one and drove in one.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- The Tornado threatened in nearly every inning as King registered 11 hits in the contest.
- Chowan did a good job of getting out of innings, leaving two Tornado runners in the first and three in the second.
- King left two more in the third and the fifth as the Tornado couldn't push a run across.
- On the other side, Luper only allowed one hit through the first three innings.
- In the fourth, the Tornado turned a double play to help Luper keep the Hawks off the scoreboard.
- Baillie Murray was hit by a pitch to start the sixth inning before Dye laced a two-run home run to give King the lead.
- Following a Lauren Lawson walk, Thompson laced a triple to extend the King lead to 3-0.
- Turner led off the seventh with a single through the left side and scored on a pair of passed balls and a stolen base.
- Luper worked around a two-out baserunner in the seventh to retire the Hawks and give King the 4-0 win.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS
- Campbell got the Tornado off to a good start with a home run to start the game.
- Dye then walked and stole second before scoring on a Turner sacrifice fly to give King a 2-0 lead.
- The Tornado defense then cut down a run between third and home to end the bottom of the first inning.
- Chowan loaded the bases with one out before Counts got a strikeout.
- The Hawks plated a run on a wild pitch before Counts got another strikeout to end the inning.
- Campbell started the fifth inning with a single and advanced to third on a Dye bunt single.
- Lawson then gave King a 3-1 lead with a sacrifice fly.
- Chowan scored a pair of unearned runs in the fifth to even the score at 3-3.
- The Tornado responded in the sixth as Dye came up with a two-out, two-run single to left field, regaining a 5-3 lead for the Tornado.
- Madison Walter then worked a 1-2-3 sixth inning before the offense tacked on some insurance runs.
- Thompson scored on a Foster single up the middle before Campbell drove in a pair with a double.
- Lilly Million made it a 9-3 Tornado lead with a single that scored Camryn Haag.
- Walter then worked around a one-out single in the seventh to give King the 9-3 victory.

- Haleigh Reid led the Hawks with four hits, including a double.
- Serena Riley posted three hits and Mckenzie Misenheimer added two hits
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The shutout is the first in Luper's career and her fifth complete game.
