EMORY, Va. – The King University men's soccer team used three second half goals to defeat Emory & Henry College 3-0 on Saturday afternoon and move to 2-0 on the season. That marks the first 2-0 start for the Tornado since 2008.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tornado started out on the attack in the opening 10 minutes with a pair of shots, but neither were on target.
- Anthony Bernardi came up with a save in the 25th minute for the Tornado to keep the contest scoreless.
- King posted a pair of shots I the 33rd minute, but neither were on frame.
- Renan Caruso followed with a shot on target in the 38th minute, but it was turned away by the Wasps goalkeeper.
- Emory & Henry was awarded a penalty kick in the 39th minute, but Bernardi came up with a save, the follow was offside to keep the match scoreless at the half.
- The Tornado started on the attack again in the second half with a shots from Patrick Poku and Weston Joyner that were turned away in the opening 15 minutes.
- Joyner then found the back of the net in the 62nd minute as he dribbled down the left and placed his shot to the far post to give King the 1-0 lead.
- The Tornado stretched their lead to 2-0 in the 76th minute when Roman De Leon placed his shot from the left side into the upper right 90.
- Pedro Herrera capped the Tornado victory, finding the back of the net in the 86th minute on an assist from Erick Manirakiza as King took the 3-0 victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- King placed 10 of their 15 shots on frame while earning two corner kicks.
- Bernardi made two saves in the contest for his first career shutout.
- De Leon netted his first career goal while Herrera's goal was his second career and first of the season.

- The win marks the first time since 2021 the Tornado are undefeated through two matches, going 1-0-1 that season.
- King was last 2-0 to start a season in 2008 when they defeated Johnson Bible College and Shorter University.
