WILSON, N.C. –
Victoria Thauer scored her first career goal Saturday afternoon, but three second-half goals proved to be the difference, as the King University women's soccer team dropped their Conference Carolinas match, 3-1 to Barton College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ella Froehlich took the first shot of the match six minutes in, but had it blocked by the Bulldogs defense.
- Barton would take the next eight shots, but were unable to get any of them on goal.
- The Tornado broke the scoring deadlock in the 25th minute, when Thauer took a corner kick pass from Ariana Gallegos and found the back of the net, putting King in front 1-0.
- After another flurry of shots from the Bulldogs, the Tornado got another scoring chance in the 41st minute, but a breakaway shot by Izzy Clark was stopped by the goalkeeper.
- One minute later, the Bulldogs got their second shot on goal of the day off a free kick, but Kristal Garcia easily made the save, sending the match into halftime with King ahead 1-0.
- Coming out of the break, the Bulldogs needed just 12 minutes to score the match-tying goal, before taking a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute.
- Barton added a third goal in the 72nd minute, taking a 3-1 lead.
- The Tornado had a couple of scoring chances late, but were unable to pick up another goal, falling 3-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Thauer's goal was her first career goal.
- Gallegos' assist was her second of the season.
- Kristal Garcia made four saves in net.
FOR THE FOES
- Three separate Bulldogs found the back of the net in Maddie Underwood, Lilly Moss and Iris Gissuradottir.
- Underwood also added an assist.

- The Tornado will kick off a four-match homestand Tuesday when they host Belmont Abbey College. Kickoff from Parks Field is set for 1 p.m.
- Barton will host the University of Mount Olive Tuesday night.
