YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The King University women's basketball team got off to a strong start in the opening quarter at Young Harris College on Saturday. However, the Mountain Lions responded with three strong quarters to hand King a 61-41 defeat.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- Scoring was tough to come by early as a Jhayda McKinney basket evened the score at five with four minutes remaining in the first quarter.
- Young Harris then pulled ahead 13-10 before King closed the quarter on a 5-0 run.
- Ashley Allen made a basket before an Alayna Smith three-point play gave the Tornado a 15-13 lead after the opening 10 minutes.
Second Period
- Young Harris scored the first six points of the second quarter before a Jaylasia Office triple ended the spurt.
- Le'Aije Ellington followed with a basket before a pair of free throws gave the lead back to the Mountain Lions.
- An Ellington triple evened the tally at 23 before the Mountain Lions scored the final four points of the quarter to take a 27-23 lead.
Third Period
- The teams traded baskets in early going of the quarter as a King 8-2 run vaulted the Tornado into a 35-34 lead.
- Office connected on a triple and a jump shot around a Jakae Jones basket.
- However, the Mountain Lions scored the next 14 points before a McKinney free throw in the waning seconds.
- Young Harris then took a 48-36 lead into the third quarter.
Fourth Period
- The run continued as the Mountain Lions took a 52-36 lead, scoring the first four points of the period before an Allen basket.
- The Tornado couldn't get a run going as the Mountain Lions took the contest 61-41.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Office and Ellington led the Tornado with eight points each.
- Smith led the Tornado with six points and three assists.
FOR THE FOES
- Crystal Corley led Young Harris with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
- Magdalene Adebanjo followed with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
- Dustie Obah chipped in with 10 points.
