Katie Koenst and
Edu Elizaran Galan were named this week's award winners.
Katie Koenst, a sophomore from Nassau Bay, Texas, won the 100-yard individual medley at 1:03.93. She also had a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 55.89. As the anchor swimmer in the 200-yard medley relay, Koenst helped secure the win as the team swam a combined 1:58.58.
Edu Elizaran Galan, a freshman from Caroba, Spain, wins his second male swimmer of the week award this season. He picked up a pair of individual wins in the tri-meet on Friday. He won the 200-yard freestyle by five seconds with his time of 1:44.84 and won the 100-yard backstroke at 53.29, almost a full second faster than the next finisher. He was also a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that finished second with a time of 1:41.55.
Both the men's and women's swim teams will be back in action this Friday, Nov 1 as they travel to Mars Hill, N.C. for a dual against Mars Hill.
