BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's basketball team defeated Emmanuel University on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 63-57. The Tornado have won all three of their conference games so far and improve to 4-5 overall on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
- King scored first as Alexa Gramann hit both of her free throws just 20 seconds into the game. This started a 7-0 run out of the gate for the Tornado and they would maintain the lead for the entirety of the game.
- Emmanuel would gain some momentum late in the quarter to get within a point, but King responded with two more free throws from Gramann and a pair of jump shots from West and Ellington to take a 20-16 lead after the opening frame.
- Gramann scored 8 in the first quarter after shooting 2-4 from the field and 4-4 at the foul line and Ellington got 6 points in the Tornado's highest scoring quarter.
Second Quarter
- The Tornado would take some time to score their first points as Williams hit a free throw at the 7:58 mark to start a small run of six unanswered for King in just over a minute.
- Sarah Thompson hit a jump shot in the paint at 6:04 before both teams faced a scoring drought that only ended when Smith hit a pair of free throws at the 2:25 mark and extend King's lead to double digits for the first time in the game.
- Thompson sank a pair of shots from the foul line with 1 second on the clock to send the teams to the locker room with King up 34-23.
Third Quarter
- Ellington opened the second half with an old fashioned three-point play giving King their largest lead of the night at 14.
- Emmanuel cut their deficit to ten points at the 8:09 mark before there was another scoring drought until Gramann hit a free throw at the 3:35 mark.
- King scored 8 points in the final three minutes of the quarter, four which can at the charity stripe.
Fourth Quarter
- Gramann led the offense again in the final quarter with 8 points, 2-3 from the field and 4-4 from the charity stripe. Her and William's efforts in the middle of the quarter led King to a 6-2 run.
- King's final points came on a pair of free throws with 11 seconds left before Emmanuel closed the game with a pair of free throws of their own.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Alexa Gramann had a game- and career-high 21 points. She went 6-9 from the field and 9-10 at the foul line. She also had a game- and season-high 8 rebounds and a game-high 4 steals.
- Mariya Williams and Le'Aije Ellington each scored 11 points and combined to shot 8-16 from the field. Ellington hit both her attempts at three-pointers.
- Sarah Thompson had a team-high 3 assists.
- As a team King scored 13 points from turnovers and 22 points in the paint.
FOR THE FOES
- Abby Crawford scored 21 points, shooting 8-22. Naomi Roberts contributed 15 points and Ade'Jah James rounded out the double-digit scorers with 12.
- Maddie Futch had a team-high 7 rebounds.
