BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's basketball team dropped their Conference Carolinas contest, 73-62 to Young Harris College Saturday afternoon.
Brianna Dunbar had 18 points to lead the Tornado.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- The Tornado scored the first nine points of the game, seven of which came courtesy of Alayna Smith.
- Young Harris got back to within 11-8, but Jaelyn West hit a fastbreak three to make the King lead 14-8 with 3:40 to play.
- The Mountain Lions closed the quarter on a 10-2 scoring run, taking an 18-16 lead.
Second Period
- After Young Harris scored the first six points, Dunbar hit a three, pulling King to within 22-19 with 7:14 remaining.
- The Mountain Lions then pulled out to a 27-19 lead before the Tornado went on a 7-2 scoring run, pulling to within 29-26 with 3:13 to play.
- Alexa Gramann and Jhayda McKinney both hit jumpers in the final part of the half, with West adding a three, though Young Harris hit a three in the closing seconds to take a 34-33 lead into halftime.
Third Period
- The teams started the quarter by trading the lead, with Young Harris eventually going ahead 45-40 with 5:40 left on the clock.
- Gramann then hit a layup, drawing the foul and hitting the ensuing free throw, followed by a Dunbar three that put King in front, 46-45.
- After King took a 52-50 lead with 2:09 left on a Dunbar jumper, the Mountain Lions would score the final four points, taking a 54-52 lead into the fourth quarter.
Fourth Period
- Young Harris scored the first six points, all of which came in the first minute to take a 60-52 lead.
- The lead grew to 71-57 with 2:48 left, after which Smith hit a free throw to make the score 71-58.
- Gramann hit a pair of layups in the closing minutes, but the Tornado were unable to erase the lead, falling 73-62.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Dunbar scored 18 points on the night, one of three Tornado to score in double figures. She was joined by Gramann (15) and West (10).
- West also led the Tornado in rebounding with six, all of which came on the defensive glass.
- Dunbar handed out five assists, with Ashley Phillip contributing four.
FOR THE FOES
- Crystal Corley led all scorers with 19 points, while Kamryn Bates had 18, JaMari Frederick had 12 and Dustie Obah scored 10.
- Corley also led the Mountain Lions with nine rebounds, while Bates had a team-high five assists.
UP NEXT
- King will play their next two games on the road, starting Wednesday with a road matchup at Belmont Abbey College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
- Young Harris will host Emmanuel University on Wednesday night.
