MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The King University men's volleyball took the third set to extend Saturday's match at the University of Mount Olive. However, the Trojans won the fourth set to take the 3-1 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- The Tornado jumped out to a 5-2 lead following a block from Colton Bueter and Kellan Kennedy and kills from AJ Drooker and Warren Davis.
- A Drooker ace gave King a 7-3 lead before the Trojans started to chip away.
- Mount Olive evened the score at nine and took a 12-11 lead before three straight points from King.
- Kennedy posted a kill and teamed up with Bueter for a block on the spurt.
- The Tornado later led 16-13 before four straight Trojan points gave Mount Olive a 17-16 lead.
- Mount Olive extended their lead to 23-19 before King took a timeout.
- However, it wasn't enough as the Trojans took the set 25-20.
Second Set
- A kill from Kennedy followed by back-to-back aces from Drooker brough the Tornado back to even with Mount Olive at 5-5.
- Mount Olive scored consecutive points with the score even at nine before extending their leasd to 16-12.
- The teams the traded points before Mount Olive pulled away to take the set 25-17.
Third Set
- Mount Olive gained separation in the set with three straight points to take a 10-6 lead.
- King later trailed 18-12 before scoring four straight points, two on kills from Davis and Marson Martindale to pull within 18-16.
- Following a Mount Olive point, King scored three straight to even the tally at 19-19.
- Kills from Kennedy and Drooker held off two match points before consecutive Tornado points gave King the set 28-26.
Fourth Set
- King jumped out to a 6-3 lead behind kills from Kennedy and Drooker along with a Drooker ace.
- Mount Olive came back and evened the score at eight before using a 6-0 run to take a 15-11 lead.
- The Tornado chipped away and used a 4-1 to pull within 24-23, but the Trojans scored the final point to take the set 25-23 and the match 3-1.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Drooker led King with 19 kills, five digs and five aces.
- Davis added 11 kills, five digs and five blocks.
- Aiden Olson handed out 39 assists and added eight digs.
FOR THE FOES
- Hayden Frear led Mount Olive with 17 kills and seven digs.
- Justin Gregory added 11 kills and eight digs while Holden Maryott posted 10 kills.
- Jackson Lahey handed out 48 assists and added seven digs and four blocks.
- Mert Asma led the back row with 12 digs.
