WILSON, N.C. – The #11 King University men's basketball team saw their season come to a close Monday night, falling 89-77 to Barton College in the second round of the Atlantic Casualty Conference Carolinas tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Half
- Barton took an early 7-4 lead before Mikhail Pocknett hit a driving layup, hitting the ensuing free throw to tie the score at seven.
- Josh Jackson hit a three wit 7:40 remaining, before hitting a couple of free throws a short time later to stretch the King lead to 25-19.
- Barton then scored the next 13 points, taking a 32-25 lead before Amarius Beasley hit a jumper with 2:12 left.
- That started a 7-2 scoring run that saw King pull to within 34-32 heading into the halftime break.
Second Half
- The Tornado tied the score at 40 when Jordan Akal hit a layup with 15:30 left.
- Barton then went on a 14-4 run, taking a 54-44 lead with 12:55 remaining.
- After King closed the gap to 71-62, Barton scored the next six points, extending the lead to 77-62 with 3:49 remaining.
- Coming out of a timeout, King scored eight of the next 11 points, including a Seth Cullen three to pull King to within 80-70.
- Cullen hit another three with 42 seconds left, making the score 84-77, but the Bulldogs were able to hang on for the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Pocknett finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds, his second straight double-double.
- Cullen scored 14 points and had three assists, while Akal added 13 points for the Tornado.
FOR THE FOES
- Jeff Fortuny led all scorers, scoring 26 points.
- Reese McDonald and Trevon Spencer both scored 13 points, with Trey Crews adding 11.
- McDonald also had 11 assists.
UP NEXT
- This was the final game of the season for the Tornado, who finish with a record of 10-19.
