BANNER ELK, N.C. – The King University men's volleyball team dropped their regular season finale, 3-0 to Blue Ridge Cup rival Lees-McRae Thursday night.
Kellan Kennedy led the Tornado with 13 kills on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- Lees-McRae led the entire set, including an early 4-1 lead, though King fought back, with Kennedy bringing King to within 4-3 after a kill.
- After the Bobcats took a 16-12 lead, King scored three straight points, including a kill by Warren Davis and a service ace from Kennedy, pulling to within 16-15.
- The Tornado got to within 22-19, but the Bobcats took the final three points, winning the set 25-19.
Second Set
- After Lees-McRae scored the first two points, King scored three in a row, all on Lees-McRae errors to take their first lead of the night, 3-2.
- The teams continued to trade the lead, with King scoring four straight to take a 20-16 lead, forcing the Bobcats to take a timeout.
- Lees-McRae had set point at 24-23, but a Davis kill extended the set, though the Bobcats eventually won the set, 26-24 to take a 2-0 match lead.
Third Set
- The Tornado took an early 2-1 lead, stretching it to 13-10 on a block by Kennedy and Kolten Soon.
- Lees-McRae took a 20-19 lead, with King quickly responding, taking a 21-20 lead after another Kennedy kill.
- After King took a 23-22 lead on a Kennedy service ace, the Bobcats scored the final three points of the set, winning it 25-23 and taking the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kennedy finished with 13 kills, three aces and two assisted blocks, all of which led the team.
- Davis finished with 11 kills, along with four digs.
- Aiden Olson handed out 33 assists while also picking up three kills.
FOR THE FOES
- Nic Brewster and Sebastian Heer both had eight kills for the Bobcats, while M.J. Doyle added seven.
- Abdirahman Ahmed handed out 31 set assists on the night.

- King will now wait to find out their opening round matchup for the Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball championship, which will be announced by the conference office following the conclusion of all matches tonight.
