PARIS – Former King University women's wrestler Sarah Hildebrandt advanced to the gold medal match of the 50 kilogram weight class at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Hildebrandt, a returning bronze medalist, was the six seed, and opened with a 10-0 tech fall win over Ibtissem Doudou of Algeria. In the quarterfinals, she had a 5-4 lead after the first period, eventually getting a takedown with 35 seconds left to secure a 7-4 win.
In the finals, Hildebrandt won a 5-0 decision over Mongolia's Otgonjargal Dolgorjav to advance to her first Olympic gold medal match.
Hildebrandt will face Vinesh Phogat of India in the gold medal match Wednesday afternoon. Vinesh knocked off the top seed en route to the finals The session is scheduled to start at 12:15 p.m., with Hildebrandt being the 15th and final match of the session. King University will be hosting a watch party in the dining hall starting at approximately 3:00 p.m.
