Love has four aces as King sweeps the Bobcats

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's volleyball team swept Conference Carolinas opponent Lees-McRae inside the Student Center Complex on Wednesday night. The Tornado were led by Kylie Love's four service aces.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Isabel Krick opened the game with a block and started the Tornado's 7-2 run to open the first set which included three kills from Krick.
  • While Lees-McRae would tie the score at 18, King had a kill from Riley Nelson and back-to-back aces from Kylie Love to retake the lead.
  • Three straight kills from Ella Kiser and Chloe Clayton gave King the final points needed coming out of a Tornado timeout to win the opening set.
  • King again jumped to an early lead in the second set.  Lees-McRae put up a fight and had the score tied six times throughout the match.
  • The Bobcats called a timeout down 16-15 and King came out of the timeout swinging, going on a 9-2 run to close out the set with an ace from Faith Morse. K. Love also had two aces in the second frame.
  • The third set was the most competitive of the night with a total of 13 ties and six lead changes.
  • King had multiple 3-0 runs and took a late lead off a 4-0 run to make the score 21-20 for the Tornado. Morse's service ace was the cap of the run.
  • Facing set-point down 24-22, Cameron Martin had a kill and Gracia Love finished the 26-24 comeback win with a kill. Martin and G. Love each had four kills in the final frame.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Kylie Love had four service aces and a team-high 14 assists to help the King offense.
  • Riley Nelson, Gracia Love, and Isabel Krick all had a team-high seven kills. G. Love had an ace, 18 receptions and 18 digs. Krick had a solo block and a block assist on the front line.
  • Faith Morse had a game-high 18 digs and two aces.
 
UP NEXT
The Tornado will hit the road again for a four-match stretch. Their first stop will be at Erskine on Saturday for a 2:00pm first serve.
