ROME, Ga. – The King University women's basketball team fell to Shorter on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mariya Williams scored first for King with a layup. Jaelyn West gave King the lead with a three point shot. She scored eight in a row for the Tornado.
- Shorter scored twenty unanswered between the end of the first quarter and the second quarter to take a 29-12 lead. Williams hit 4-4 free throws to give King their first points of the second quarter at the 6:06 mark.
- King held Shorter scoreless in the last 3:39 minutes of the first half while scoring 7 points to close the gap to ten.
- Le'Aije Ellington scored all six of her points in the third quarter.
- Sarah Thompson hit a layup with 1:36 in the game to bring King within 4 points, but the Hawks landed some late free throws to take the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Mariya Williams had a double-double with 13 point and 14 rebounds. She also had a game-high 5 assists.
- Sarah Thompson and Jaelyn West also scored in double-digits with Thompson hitting 14 and West with 12. Thompson also had a game-high 3 steals.
- Le'Aije Ellington pulled down 8 rebounds.
