BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's volleyball team dropped their Conference Carolinas contest, 3-0 to Erskine Saturday evening.
Colton Bueter had 14 kills for the Tornado, while
Alex Barkley had 11.
THE BASICS
FINAL SCORE: Erskine 3, King 0 (21-25, 19-25, 22-25)
LOCATION: Student Center Complex; Bristol, Tenn.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- Erskine scored the first three points of the set before a Bryce Pickett kill and Grayson Stoudt service ace brought King back to within 3-2.
- After the Flying Fleet took a 6-4 lead, the Tornado scored two straight, tying the score at six.
- The teams traded the lead until Erskine took a 17-16 lead, starting a 5-1 scoring run that saw their lead turn into 21-17.
- The Tornado were able to get back to within 21-19, but the Flying Fleet held on for a 25-21 set win.
Second Set
- The Flying Fleet scored five of the first six points, before King scored two in a row to make the score 5-3.
- Erskine was able to stretch their lead to 18-12 before the Tornado scored five of the next six points to pull to within 19-16.
- Erskine closed the set on a 6-3 scoring run to win 25-19, taking a 2-0 match lead.
Third Set
- The Flying Fleet took an early 4-2 lead, with both King points coming from Bueter kills.
- Erskine's lead eventually reached 15-9, at which point King scored four of the next five points, pulling to within 16-13.
- The Tornado continued to hang in the set, eventually scoring three straight points to tie the score at 20.
- King got to within 23-22 late in the set, but the Flying Fleet scored the final two points, winning the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Bueter led all players with 14 kills, with Barkley adding 11, along with a pair of service aces.
- JP Ribeiro had 27 assists on the night for the Tornado.
FOR THE FOES
- Pablo Zamar had 13 kills to lead the Flying Fleet attack, while Aidon Love had 10.
- Gino Briglio had 38 assists on the night.

- King will play at North Greenville Tuesday before starting a four-match homestand next weekend.
