EMORY, Va. – The King University softball team combined for 27 hits in a doubleheader sweep over Emory & Henry on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME ONE
- Both teams were scoreless through three innings. King started the scoring as Helina Hahn scored as a pinch runner on a Carlie Sheets single. Sheets was later able to score on a Alyssa Suits single to center field.
- The Wasps scored on a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth.
- King expanded their lead in the top of the fifth. Bradlie Warner doubled to the outfield and advanced to third on a passed ball. Katie Ryan's single through the left side pushed Warner home.
- With the bases loaded in the sixth, Warner grounded out, but hit Staley Vaught home. Alena Demakas' double allowed Aviah Bunsic to score before the inning was over.
- Autumn Campbell's triple in the top of the seventh hit Suits, Sheets, and Tori Ryan home to put the Tornado up 9-1.
- Emory & Henry scored two runs on a home run in the bottom of the seventh but couldn't catch King.
KING HIGHLIGHTS – GAME ONE
- The Tornado had 12 hits from eight different players. Autumn Campbell had a triple and Alena Demakas and Bradlie Warner each had a double. Eight players scored King's 9 runs.
- A. Campbell had three RBIs and scored once, Demakas had two RBIs on her double.
- Carlie Sheets went 2-2, scoring twice, recording an RBI, and reaching base twice on a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME TWO
- Emory & Henry scored in the first inning with the bases loaded, taking an early 2-0 lead.
- King tied the game in the next inning. Rachel Jardim started the inning with a walk before Vaught pinch ran for her. On the next at-bat, Carlie Sheets doubled down the left field line, allowing Vaught to score. Alyssa Suits then singled to right field to hit Sheets home.
- The Wasps then scored six runs on three hits in the bottom of the third to take an 8-2 lead.
- The Tornado offense exploded in the top of the fourth to score 9 runs on eight 8 hits.
- Pinch runner, Giana Winge scored first when Suits hit a single with the bases loaded.
- Suits and Bunsic scored on an dropped fly ball. Katie Ryan's double drove home Demakas and Warner.
- Tori Ryan scored on a Carlie Sheets single up the middle before Jardim scored on a Bunsic single to center field. Sheets then scored on a Suits single to center before the inning ended.
- King scored one last run in the top of the sixth inning as Suits had another single to hit Jardim in.
KING HIGHLIGHTS – GAME TWO
- Alyssa suits went 4-4 in the second game and had a game-high 4 RBI, while scoring once herself.
- Rachel Jardim was 3-4 scoring twice and walking once. Demakas, Sheets, and Bunsic each had two hits. The three combined for three RBI and 4 runs.
- Olesia Walch came in for relief in the circle, going four innings allow just 3 hits and 2 walks.
