BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's volleyball team suffered a nonconference loss, 3-0 to #18 Lincoln Memorial Wednesday night.
Alex Barkley had four kills and five digs for the Tornado on the night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- After LMU took an early lead, Barkley picked up his first kill of the night, making it 5-3 before the Railsplitters scored five straight points, taking a 10-3 lead heading into a timeout.
- The Railsplitters lead reached 15-6 before King scored two straight, including another kill by Barkley and a service ace by Grayson Stoudt.
- Lincoln Memorial closed the set on a 10-4 scoring run, taking the opening set 25-12.
Second Set
- Lincoln Memorial scored the first three points before a service error gave King the serve, which resulted in Colton Bueter getting a service ace to make the score 3-2.
- The Tornado were able to pull even at eight on a Sean Haberthy service ace, before taking a 10-9 lead a short time later when Stoudt picked up a kill to make it a 10-9 King lead.
- The Railsplitters then went on a 6-1 scoring run, taking a 15-11 lead into a timeout.
- King was able to keep things close, scoring four of the next six points to stay within 17-15 until the Railsplitters closed the set on an 8-2 scoring run, winning 25-17 and taking a 2-0 match lead.
Third Set
- King kept things close early, staying within 3-2 before three straight Lincoln Memorial points game them a 6-2 lead.
- After a Tornado timeout, they scored four of the next six points, pulling to within 8-6.
- LMU then scored five of the next six points to stretch their lead to 13-7.
- The Tornado then called timeout trailing 17-9, after which they scored five of the next six points, including a Bueter service ace to pull to within 18-14.
- Lincoln Memorial was able to close the set with a 7-2 scoring run, winning the set 25-16 and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Barkley finished with four kills and five digs on the night, leading the Tornado attack.
- Bueter finished with three kills, two aces and three digs on the night, while Stoudt had two kills and one assist.
- Dalton Claiborne also had five digs, along with one kill on the night.
FOR THE FOES
- Matthew Gentry and Johan Negron both finished with nine kills on the night, with Gentry finishing with two blocks as well.
- John Luers handed out 37 assists, while Tate Colebaugh had a team-best nine digs.
UP NEXT
- King will host a pair of nonconference games this weekend, starting Friday with a matchup against Reinhardt before hosting Tusculum Saturday afternoon inside the Student Center.
