MYRTLE BEACH, SC. – The King University women's track and field team finished their 2024-2025 season by competing in the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track & Field Conference Championship on Thursday, April 24th through Saturday, April 26th.
THE BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED – WOMEN
- Junior, Emily Ward, finished 9th overall in the 10k with a time of 41:57.67. She went on to also compete in the 5k and after going into the last mile in 16th place, she surpassed 5 competitors to finish 11th overall with a time of 19:35.74.
- Sophomore, Ermay Vazquez Adame, advanced to the finals of the 800 meter race by finishing 2nd overall in her heat with a time of 2:23.58 on Day 2 of competition. The winner of each of the four heats automatically advanced, along with the next best four times. Fortunately Vazquez's time was good enough to advance. The final, held on Day 3, held a different outcome for Vazquez as she stayed right on the leader through the first lap and then with 350 meters left, she took over the race and never looked back. After going out in a conservative 1:12.23 for the first lap she found a next gear and held it throughout the second lap for a time of 1:09.74 to win the event with a time of 2:21.97.
- Freshmen, Lily Bjerkness, ran an all-time personal best in the 800 meter race with a time of 2:30.90.
- Freshmen, Samaya Armstead, ran the 400 meter dash in a time of 1:03.68.
- Freshmen, Elizabeth Butler, finished in the top 10 in the pole vault with a best vault of 2.49m (8'2").
