Bristol, Tenn. The King University Softball team battled through two games against Conference Carolinas opponent Converse in a battle of the bats, with a total of 26 runs being scored between the two games for the teams combined. Converse won the first game with a strong close in extra innings, 11-7, while King dominated the second game with an 8-0 win in the fifth inning to run-rule the Valkyries.

Game One:

In the first game, Converse got off to a quick start, scoring four runs in the first inning to take a quick 4-0 lead. King would not respond while the Valkyries scored two more in the third to take a 6-0 lead heading into the fourth. King got the bats going finally, with one run coming through from
Yuleesa Kennedy off a single by
Aubrey King.

King kept it up in the fifth to cut the lead to three, scoring two more with
Ella Richey and
Grace Shary crossing home plate to make the score 6-3. The Tornado would come back in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three in the inning, coming from
Katie Ryan,
Olesia Walch, and
Bradlie Warner, all getting home. Converse would take care of business, though, in the top of the eighth, scoring five runs to win the first game 11-7 after King got one run in the bottom of the eighth.

On the mound for King were
Savana Luper,
Riley Lamb, and
Sophia Waters. The trio was able to have five total strikeouts and only gave up seven earned runs through eight innings.

Batting:
Kennedy had two hits, both of which were doubles, one run, and two RBIs.
Carlie Sheets had one hit, which was a double, and had two RBIs.
Ryan had two hits, one run, and one RBI.
Aubrey King had two hits and one RBI.

Game Two:

In the second game, King had a strong defense, holding Converse to score no runs, but kept the bats hot. The Tornado stormed through the game, scoring eight runs unanswered through five innings, where King would win by a run rule. King would score two in the second inning with
Aviah Bunsic and Richey crossing home. In the third inning, Ryan crossed home plate by a wild pitch. In the fifth, they were able to score five runs with
Alena Demakas, Bunsic, Sheets, Richey, and
Imari Golden all crossing home.

Kaylee Meeks threw a clean sheet for King, letting up only four hits with one strikeout. Â

Batting:
Golden went a perfect two for two with three RBIs, one run, and stole two bases.
Richey had one hit with two runs and one stolen base.
Ryan had one hit, one run, and one stolen base.
