BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University is proud to announce the promotion of Scot Hundt to Associate Head Coach of the men's basketball program. Hundt, who joined the Tornado coaching staff in August 2024, has quickly established himself as a key contributor to the program's growth and success.
A native of Punta Gorda, Florida, Hundt arrived at King after serving as an assistant coach and Director of Operations at Loras College. In that position, he managed team travel, coordinated strength and conditioning, broke down game film, and developed scouting reports to aid in game preparation.
Prior to his coaching career, Hundt was an accomplished collegiate player at Reinhardt University, where he played under current King head coach Gillespie. He later transferred to Mississippi College, spending three years with the Choctaws and serving as team captain for his final two seasons. Hundt earned his bachelor's degree in Kinesiology from Mississippi College in May 2019.
Hundt's background includes extensive experience in player development, team operations, and program management. He has worked numerous basketball camps, including Nike Elite Camps, and has gained valuable event management experience with Atlanta Event Specialists, supporting events for the PGA Tour and TopGolf.
Head coach Gillespie praised Hundt's impact on the program, stating, "Coach Hundt has demonstrated in his two years at King that he has an extremely bright future in coaching. He is on a trajectory to have an outstanding career as a basketball coach. I am excited and appreciative of being allowed to designate him as my Associate Head Coach in recognition of his diligent work."
