BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University acrobatics and tumbling team had a successful meet a week ago at fifth-ranked Gannon University, and a pair of Tornado have been recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). Abigail Keith was selected Specialist of the Week and Caroline Versluis earned Freshman of Week honors.
Keith earned specialist honors after her solid acro event. She helped the Tornado to an acro 7 element score of 9.50 out of a possible 10, that marked the best score for the Tornado in the event this season. Keith also competed in the acro 6 element heat, scoring 9.05 for the Tornado.
Versluis helped the Tornado set five season-highs on Saturday, including three in the compulsory event and two in the toss event. In the compulsory event, Versluis competed in the pyramid, toss and tumbling heats, helping King to scores of 9.50, 9.85 and 8.45, all setting season-highs. Then in the toss event, she helped the Tornado to season-high scores of 9.65 in heat 1 and 9.50 in heat three. In her first career tumbling aerial pass, she posted a score of 9.225 out of a possible 9.450 points.
The Tornado return to the floor in the Student Center Complex on Thursday, March 14 at 7:00 p.m. when they take on third-ranked Quinnipiac University.
