Split for King Baseball at Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The King College baseball team split a Friday doubleheader at Young Harris (Ga.) College as the Tornado won game two 8-1 after Young Harris took game one 5-4.

King went to 14-10 after the games and the teams will close out the three-game series Saturday with a 4 p.m. contest.

Garrett Cook (Luray, Va.) was 3-for-4 with four RBIs thanks to two home runs in game one. Cody Snyder (Bluff City), Bryant Walker (Knoxville, Tenn.) and Tyler Gaby (Bristol, Tenn.) all had two-hit efforts.

Cory Rhodes (Kissimmee, Fla.) threw his second complete game of the season with eight innings of work. Rhodes was hit for five runs, four earned, on eight hits. He struck out three with a pair of walks.

In game two Cook added a 3-for-3 performance with three runs scored and scored twice. Brad Blanton (Ashland, Ky.) was 1-for-4, but drove in three runs. Gaby was 3-for-4 at the top of the Tornado lineup as he extended his season-best hitting streak to seven games. During his streak Gaby has a .519 batting average thanks to five multi-hit games.

Alex Martin (Kingston, Tenn.) went the first six innings and did not allow a run, but four hits were recorded as he went to 2-0 on the season.
