BANNER ELK, N.C. – The King University turned in a solid performance at the Lees-McRae race this weekend as they prepare for USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Biking Nationals in two weeks. Kaysee Armstrong, Jennifer Caicedo and Cory Rimmer won races to lead the Tornado.
On Saturday in wet conditions, Armstrong won the women's category A cross country race while Rimmer took second in the men's race. The duo followed that with top-10 performances in the slalom later in the afternoon as Rimmer finished seventh and Armstrong took fifth.
On Sunday, Rimmer broke through with a victory in the short track while Drew Bailey took seventh in the same men's A race. Armstrong took third in the women's A short track while Caicedo won the women's B race. Taylor White finished third in the men's C race, and Alex Jensen took third, just behind White.
The Tornado also had a pair of teams of the short track relay with Bailey and Caicedo taking seventh and Rimmer and Armstrong finishing third.
King will be in action again on October 24-26 at the USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Biking Nationals in Beech Mountain, N.C.
