NCCAA award for Tornado's Dockery

GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College's Mark Dockery was awarded the NCCAA Division I Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week award by the national office.

Dockery, a senior from Nickelsville, Va., led King with 23 points in the team's only game last week at Life (Ga.) University. He was 8-for-18 from the field with five 3-pointers and he pulled in eight rebounds, dished out four assists with three steals.

The 23 points moved him within 17 points to take over King's All-Time Scoring lead with 1,783 points in his career. He was able to get the record-breaking points Thursday thanks to a 20-point output.

This week's award was the third time Dockery has won the honor this season.

The Tornado defeated Victory (Tenn.) University 101-76 Thursday in a NCCAA Mid-East Region semifinal contest to advance to the championship game Saturday at Campbellsville (Ky.) University with a 3 p.m. start. King posted a 72-63 win at Campbellsville on Feb. 16 and the winner of Saturday's game earns an automatic bid to the NCCAA National Tournament March 17-19 in Oakland City, Ind.
