Dockery shoots to NCCAA weekly honor

GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College's Mark Dockery won his second NCCAA Division I Men's Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week award of the season, the national office announced.

Dockery, a senior forward from Nickelsville, Va., scored a career-high 40 points with 11 rebounds in King's 124-113 win over Life (Ga.) University last week. He became just the second player in program history to reach the 40-point mark in a game and he broke the school record for free throws with 21 made in 24 attempts which included a streak of 17 straight. The 17 straight was more than the previous school record for makes in a game of 16.

The 11 rebounds were a season high for Dockery.

This marks the second time this season Dockery has won the weekly honor as he was the recipient on Dec. 22.

King, at 13-12 on the season, welcomes Central State (Ohio) University to Bristol for a 4 p.m. contest Saturday. In the first meeting, at Central State, King ended up on the short side of an 86-82 decision on Jan. 29.
