BRISTOL, Tenn. – For the third straight week and fourth of the last five, a King University men's basketball player has been named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week. This week it was Mike Salomon who earns honors for the second straight week.
Salomon had a big week for the Tornado, leading King to two wins and the Conference Carolinas regular season title. He started the week by matching his career-high of 21 points in a win over Emmanuel College, shooting 5-for-8 from three-point range.
The Statesboro, Ga., native followed that by going 4-for-9 from three, scoring 17 points and grabbing nine rebounds in King's win at Lees-McRae College. That marked the eighth time this season Salomon has made at least four three-point baskets in game. For the week he shot 52.9 percent from long range and 54.2 percent from the field, averaging 19.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.
King is the top seed in the Conference Carolinas Tournament and hosts eighth seed Belmont Abbey College on Tuesday night. Tipoff from the Student Center Complex is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
