BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Conference Carolinas Men's and Women's Basketball Championships start next week and the league announced their academic all-conference performers this week. Both the King University men's basketball and women's basketball teams had three players selected.
Miyah Cook, Kori West and Arielle Holloway garnered honors for the women's team. Holloway owns a 3.64 GPA while making four starts in 26 appearances and scoring 4.3 points per game. Cook has started five of the 15 games she has appeared in and carries a 3.28 GPA. West owns a 3.45 GPA and was averaging 15.3 points and 11.7 rebounds per game before an injury ended her season.
On the men's side, Desmond Davis, Gabriel Gonzalez and Drew McCrary all earned academic all-conference. Davis has played in 26 games, making six starts for the Tornado while averaging 2.3 points and 1.3 assists per game while carrying a 3.30 GPA. Gonzalez carries a 3.38 GPA and has started one of the 26 games in which he has appeared. He also averages 2.3 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. McCrary owns a 3.88 GPA.
The Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference teams are comprised of junior and senior student-athletes who have competed in a conference-sponsored sport and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution. The GPA is calculated based on the student-athlete's cumulative average through the previous semester and each student-athlete must have attended their member institution for at least one academic year.
