Floyd's opening week leads to CC Player of the Week honors

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Jordan Floyd started the season in impressive fashion for the King University men's basketball team, shooting better than 50 percent and averaging 34.0 points per game as he was selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week.

Floyd started by pouring in 34 points in a win over UVa-Wise on Friday night where he shot 60.9 percent (14-23) from the floor. The senior followed that with 34 points, shooting 52.0 percent (13-25) from the floor in a win over Carson-Newman University. The win for the Tornado over the Eagles was the first since 2011. The Stone Mountain, Ga., native added four rebounds, four assists and five steals in the win over Carson-Newman.

Floyd now has nine 30-point games in his career, and he reached the 1000-point plateau while wearing a Tornado uniform. He now as 1,012 points in 64 games wearing the scarlet and navy and 1,234 points in his career.

This marks the first Conference Carolinas Player of the Week honor for Floyd this season and third of his career.

King returns to the court on Saturday when they host Shorter University at 5:00 p.m.
