Dion joins the Tornado staff following a playing career at Francis Marion University and North Greenville University. In the two years he spent at Francis Marion, the Patriots were ranked 25th in the country and he played at No. 2-5 singles. While at North Greenville he played at No. 1 singles.

In the summer prior to joining the Tornado staff, Nijboer coached at Middlesex Club in Connecticut. He coached an 8-10-year-old high-performance group for the Dutch National Federation.
