KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The King University men's golf team opened the season at the Kiawah Island Invitational on the Ocean Course against a very tough field that features six top-25 teams. The Tornado posted a 307 in the first round and are in 18th place after the first of two rounds.
Mathias Bunaes and John Scott led the Tornado in the first round as both posted rounds of 76. Leennawat Numpituckchaikul wasn't far behind, shooting 77 while Sam Hobday and Ross Maietta rounded out the squad, each shooting 78.
Erskine College, who is ranked 25th in the Golfstat rankings leads the tournament along with #13 Flagler College with scores of 283. Ninth ranked USC Aiken is third a 284 while Lincoln Memorial University is fourth at 285. The Tornado are in 18th place after their first round of 307.
The tournament will conclude with the second round on Tuesday at the Kiawah Island Ocean Course.
