King in 10th after first round of Rock Barn Intercollegiate

CONOVER, N.C. – The King University men's golf team opened their last event of the fall with a solid round of 310 in the first round of the Rock Barn Intercollegiate. The Tornado were led by Mathias Bunaes and are in 10th place of 21 teams with one round remaining.

Bunaes shot 39 on the front nine, but bounced back to card a 36 on the back, finishing with a first round score of 75 to put him in 14th place after one round. Leennawat Numpituckchaikul and John Scott followed Bunaes, each carding 77 in the first round. Numpituckchaikul shot 42 on the front nine and 35 on the back while Scott carded 38 on the front and 39 on the back nine.

Taylor Gouge and Sam Hobday rounded out the squad with scores of 81 and 89, respectively.

Chico State University leads the tournament after shooting 296 in the first round while Newberry College is in second at 297. Wingate University and Georgia Southwestern State University are tied for third at 301. King shot 310 in the first round and is in 10th place in the 21-team tournament.

The second round from Rock Barn Golf Course in Conover, North Carolina is scheduled for Tuesday.
