Tornado in 16th after first rounds of Newbery Invite

KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – The King University men's golf team opened the spring season with a two-round score of 607 at the Newberry College Invitational. The Tornado are in 16th place and were led by Chad Couch who is in 12th place.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Couch shot one-over 73 in the opening round and followed that with a score of even par 72 in the second round. He is in 12th place with a total of 145.
  • Robert Wilkinson rebounded from and opening round of 75 to shooting one-under 71 in the second round for a tournament total of 146.
  • Coming in with a score of 153 was Leo Rigamonti. He carded a one-under 71 in the opening round before shooting 82 in the second round.
  • Ryan Bradshaw and Alex Bradford rounded out the team with scores of 163 and 168, respectively.
  • Bradshaw shot 82-81 while Bradford carded scores of 82 and 86.

FOR THE FOES

  • Florida Southern College leads the tournament with a score of 568 while Arkansas Tech University is second at 579.
  • Michael VanDerLaan of Florida Southern in the individual leader with a score of 132.

  • The tournament concludes with the third round on Tuesday.
