Tornado Soccer places seven on NCCAA Scholar-Athlete list

GREENVILLE, S.C. - A group of seven King College men's soccer players made the grade to earn NCCAA Scholar-Athlete honors, the organization announced.

Richard Masters (Kent, England), Colby Childress (Huntsville, Ala.), Erik Douglas (Asheville, N.C.), Matt Kilgus (Roanoke, Va.), Patrick Milfeld (Dallas, Texas), Justin Morrell (Bristol, Tenn.), and Michael Thornton (Nashville, Tenn.) represented King on the list. Douglas, Masters and Thornton were on the 2009 team that had a total of eight Tornado players on it.

King was able to get all three goalkeepers on the roster on the scholar-athlete team with Masters, Milfeld and Morrell.

A total of 75 student-athletes from 22 schools were on the list. King, Cedarville (Ohio) University and Indiana Wesleyan University tied for the most with seven apiece.

King ended the 2010 season at 6-12-1 overall. The Tornado played in the NCCAA Mid-East region semifinals and was defeated 1-0 by eventual region champion Campbellsville (Ky.) University.
