Saavedra selected TSWA Player of the Week

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Carlos Saavedra close the regular season on a hot streak for the King University men's soccer team. He helped the Tornado secure their first home Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Championship game and was selected Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week.

He scored a pair of game-winning goals and handed out an assist, leading King to a pair of wins last week. Saavedra started with an assist before scoring the game-winning goal of a comeback win at Lees-McRae College. He scored on a pass from Jairo Ruiz Caram in the 107th minute, giving King a 3-2 win at Lees-McRae. On Friday he scored in the 52nd minute on a penalty kick, giving King a 2-1 lead in another come-from-behind win, this time over Barton. Four of his seven goals on the season have been game-winners.

The Tornado play in the Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Championship semifinals on Thursday at 19th-ranked and top seed Limestone College. Kickoff from Gaffney, S.C. is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
