BRISTOL, Tenn. – Ben Delisle of the King University men's soccer team had a hand in all three goals for the Tornado as they defeated Tusculum University last week. On Wednesday, Delisle was selected Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Player of the Week.
Delisle had a breakout game for the Tornado on Wednesday as King defeated regional rival Tusculum University for the first time since 2000. Delisle gave King a 1-0 lead, scoring on a penalty kick in the 21st minute. In the second half, he fed Callum Davidson a through-ball from midfield as Davidson got behind the defense and gave King a 2-1 lead in the 78th minute.
Delisle capped the day with another penalty kick goal, this one coming in overtime, giving King the 3-2 win in the 92nd minute. It marked his third career multi-goal game as he had two last season. The TSWA Player of the Week award is Delisle's first of the season and second of his career.
The Tornado are in action again on Wednesday night at Carson-Newman University. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
