BRISTOL, Tenn. – Simen Vik had a great weekend at the Fall Frenzy Invitational, helping the Tornado to seven school records. On Wednesday he was selected Conference Carolinas Swimmer of the Week following his outstanding performance.
Vik set five individual school records over the weekend and helped two relays set school records. He set the 500 yard freestyle record by 11 seconds with a time of 4:39.35 on Friday. On Saturday he set the 400 yard individual medley school record by three seconds, touching the all in 4:01.55.
Vik then set three records on Saturday, including two in the 1650 yard freestyle. During the race, he set the 1000 yard freestyle record and finished the race in a 1650 yard freestyle record time of 16:23.23. That time was 1:07 faster than the previous record. In the 200 yard butterfly, Vik set the school record by four seconds with a time of 1:54.67.
He was a member of the 400 yard medley and 800 yard freestyle school record relay teams for the Tornado. The 400 yard medley relay team posted a school record by 3.4 seconds with a time of 3:30.27 while the 800 yard freestyle relay team finished in 7:02.28.
This marks the second time this season Vik has been selected Conference Carolinas Swimmer of the Week.
