NCCAA weekly tennis honors for King duo

GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College's Pablo Vidal and Virginie Brioschi were the NCCAA Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week the national office announced as King swept the men's and women's awards for a third straight week.

Vidal (Madrid, Spain) scored King's lone point against Queens (N.C.) University of Charlotte with a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 2 singles as he has won six straight singles matches.

He won the award two weeks ago and in between teammate Jose Avila (Cuernavaca, Mexico) was the winner last week.

Brioschi (Geneva, Switzerland) battled hard in the Queens match, but was defeated 6-4 and 6-3 at No. 1 singles after an 8-5 setback in No. 1 doubles. This award is the second straight for Brioschi and the third straight week it has gone to a Lady Tornado player.

So far in the 2010-11 season King has seven NCCAA Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week winners.

King returns to action as the women travel to Converse (S.C.) College on Wednesday while the men play at UNC Asheville Thursday.
