King falls to Tusculum to end regular season

GREENVILLE, Tenn. – The King University men's tennis team wrapped up their regular season with a non-conference duel match at Tusculum College on Tuesday afternoon. The Pioneers came away with a 9-0 victory.

Tusculum (15-4) started the match by winning all three doubles matches. The Pioneers took the No. 1 doubles match 8-4, and No. 2 8-3 while taking the No. 3 doubles match 8-1.

In singles play, Rodrigo Avila narrowly fell to Lukas Winkelmann at No. 1 singles. Winkelmann took the first set 6-4 only to see Avila come back to win the second set 6-2. Wilkemann then won the final set 10-8 to take the match. The Pioneers took the final five singles matches from King (11-9) to sweep the duel match.

The Tornado will be the seventh seed in the Conference Carolinas Tournament this weekend and face second seeded Limestone College on Friday in Sumter, S.C., at 9:00 a.m.
