King drops first dual match of season

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The King University men's tennis team played their first dual match of the season as they traveled to Bluefield State College on Friday afternoon. The Tornado took two of the three doubles matches, but dropped a 5-3 decision to the Blues.

 At No. 1 doubles, Rodrigo Avila and Leo Brigato turned an 8-6 win while Luis Delgado and Pablo Vidal won by the same margin at No. 2 doubles.

In singles play, Avila took a 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 10-8 victory at the No. 1 flight to earn King's final win of the dual match. Vidal and Delgado nearly had victories as both of their matches went three sets at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, respectively. Vidal fell to Aziz Yuldashev 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 while Delgado dropped a 4-6, 6-1, 10-4 decision to Piotr Kruk.

King will be in action again on October 18 when they travel to Catawba College. The dual match is scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
