King falls at Mount Olive to open conference play

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The King University men's tennis team opened Conference Carolinas play at the University of Mount Olive on Sunday, and the Trojans came away with an 8-1 win.

The Tornado duo of Rodrigo Avila and Leo Brigato gave King (2-4, 0-1 CC) their only win of the day at No. 1 doubles as they defeated Edgar Bub and Rik Wolhtuis 8-4.

In singles play, Moritz Poswiat dropped a narrow first set to Brahm Moolman at No. 5 singles, falling 7-6 (7-4) on the tiebreak. He bounced back however, to take the second set 6-2. Nevertheless, Mooman won the super tiebreaker third set 10-5 to seal the 8-1 win for Mount Olive (8-1, 2-0 CC).

King will be in action again on Tuesday when the host Mars Hill University. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
