SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The King University men's tennis team opened their spring with a defeat at NCAA Division I opponent Wofford College. The Terriers took the doubles point, before taking the dual match 7-0.
The Terriers (1-0) started the match with a 6-0 win at No. doubles with Rob Galloway and Haris Poric defeating Moritz Poswiat and Luis Delgado. At No. 2 doubles, Seth Carelli and Lennard Keswani fell to Walker Heffron and Parks Thompson 6-3 and the Wofford duo of Trevor Gotkowski and David Sklar topped Makar Grytsevych and Aukiti Madasaui 6-1 at No. 3 doubles to win the doubles point.
King (1-3) tried to get on the board in singles play, and the best match of the day came at No. 3 singles where Keswani went three sets with Heffron. Keswani took the first set 6-4, but Heffron battled back to take the second set 6-4 and the third set 7-6 for the win. Poswiat also dropped a tight match at No. 2 singles, falling 7-5, 6-4 to Poric, and at the top flight, Delgado fell 6-3, 6-4 to Galloway. The Terriers then took the final three singles matches to take the dual 7-0.
King will be in action again on February 7 when they travel to take on Emmanuel College to open Conference Carolinas play. The dual match is slated to start at 10:00 a.m.
