Neumann leads Tornado at ITA Regional

SUMTER, S.C. – Selected members of the King University men's and women's tennis teams played at the ITA Southeast Regional over the weekend. Lennard Neumann highlighted the weekend for the Tornado, advancing to the round of 32 in the singles draw.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Neumann came from behind to win his first match 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) to defeat Jack Joel of Catawba College.
  • He then defeated Roy Stepanov of Wingate University 6-0, 6-4 before squaring off against the second seed in the tournament.
  • Neumann's tournament came to an end as he fell to second-seeded Alvaro Regelado of Columbus State University 6-1, 6-2.
  • Alejandro Feliciano won his first match, defeating Ross Edgar of Erskine College 6-2, 6-2.
  • However, he fell to third-seed Zach Whaanga of Columbus State 6-4, 6-0 in the second round.
  • On the women's side, Marylin Roustand and Jordyn Karmatz both competed, but neither won a match in the tournament.
